The Climate Bonds Standards Board recently approved First Environment, Inc. as a verification body–the first in the U.S. for their Climate Bond Certification program. The Climate Bond Standard is the first and currently only internationally developed bond criteria allowing investors and governments to deploy their capital with confidence that the funds are being used to deliver climate change solutions.

Climate Bonds are a subset of Green Bonds, one of the fastest growing classes of fixed-assets investments. With the growth of the “labeled” Green Bond market there is also a growing demand by investors for bonds to be third-party verified to accepted standards in order to avoid the risk of ‘greenwashing,’ or even green fraud.
