Meet Phil Cicolello, the latest addition to our environmental services group in Boonton, New Jersey, which provides specialty consulting to insurance industry clients. Phil has more than 28 years of environmental and regulatory experience, including 13 years working as an environmental consultant on a variety of industrial and commercial sites throughout the New Jersey and New York region. Notably, he recently served as a licensed claims adjuster in the environmental claims department of a commercial insurance company. During that time he managed storage tank claims as well as general property damage and personal injury claims. Prior to becoming a claims adjuster, he worked for 13 years as an in-house technical consultant for AIG’s environmental claims department. In this role he provided environmental technical consultation and remediation oversight services to the Environmental and Pollution Insurance Products Claims Departments for claims throughout the U.S., while also supporting underwriting. Phil has evaluated hundreds of claims to determine whether incurred pollution costs were reasonable, customary, and consistent with industry standards and whether work performed was required by environmental law and covered specific to the pollution policy. In addition, Phil is an experienced project manager of environmental site investigation and remediation projects of varying complexity, from residential underground storage tanks (USTs) to large complex industrial site cleanups. He has gained valuable boots-on-the-ground experience conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, UST investigations, and remedial applications.
