Rafael Rios, PhD, PE


Rafael is an expert in the areas of environmental auditing, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and site investigation and remediation. He has been auditing facilities for the U.S. Army Reserve, U.S. National Guard, and U.S. Air Force since 1989. Rafael also has extensive auditing experience of industrial facilities, having completed audits for complex operations in Puerto Rico at both the facility and divisional levels with an emphasis on environmental management system evaluations. Other industrial auditing experience includes rum distillery operations, food processing operations and pharmaceutical operations. In addition, Rafael’s international experience includes more than ten Phase I and Phase II audits for clients in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Virgin Islands; environmental audits of two manufacturing facilities in Mexico; and environmental audits at manufacturing facilities in Colombia and the Dominican Republic. He has also taught short courses in industrial compliance auditing for the College of Engineers in Puerto Rico and was the main speaker at the Puerto Rico ISO 14000 Environment Management Standards Course, conducted by Government Institutes in November 1998.
