First Environment has rewarding opportunities within its GHG management consulting practice for self-motivated team players with strong quantitative skills; an environmental background; and ability for research, analysis, and communication of findings and opinions.
Initial responsibilities for this position include:
- Assisting with development of GHG inventories, GHG emission reduction projects, and other GHG management systems, tools, and products
- Supporting verification of GHG inventory and reduction project statements
- Collecting, managing and analyzing quantitative information
- Conducting independent policy and technical research on a variety of climate change, GHG management and other general environmental issues
- Identifying and evaluating GHG management best practices
- Preparing deliverables and presenting findings to clients and other relevant stakeholders
Qualified candidates must possess the following credentials:
- Degree in Engineering, Math, Environmental Science/Policy or the Physical Sciences; advanced degree a plus
- A minimum of two-three years work experience
- Strong quantitative/technical/analytical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience and knowledge of industrial operations and processes
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail, and commitment to quality
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Team player with a proactive personality and a high degree of self motivation
Preferences
- Knowledge of greenhouse gas (GHG) policy frameworks (UNFCCC, federal, state, and especially California’s AB32) and GHG accounting best practices
- Experience and knowledge of air quality concepts and emission quantification methodologies
- Knowledge of auditing processes
- Understanding of energy and electricity generation and distribution concepts
- Understanding of oil and gas exploration, refining, and transmission operations
- Understanding of cement manufacturing operations
